What we do is, we take a brief from you, for the new team member and discuss with you what your real needs are and how this person would fulfil these needs. From this discussion, what we sometimes find is that the kind of person you are looking for is very different from the kind of person your business really needs.

As consultants, we believe it is our job to tell you exactly what we think rather than going about “filling a position”. In some cases, we have advised our clients to fill the positions internally rather than look to recruit externally.

The second point where we differ is that we spend time in analysing what the job profile is. Why is this important? Without a proper understanding of the job profile, you could be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Thirdly, we examine the ‘cultural fit’. In plain English, what this means is that the new person needs to be able to get along with you and your team.
